Rawa beading creates the illusion of sun rays under a succession of argent globes in a stunning bracelet designed by Dheeraj. Featuring oxidized accents for contrast, the substantial sterling silver bangle is crafted by hand in India. It opens with a pin clasp and hinge.
Silver jewelry in India flourished with the rise of the Mughal Empire; however, since silversmiths had to compete with goldsmiths, they had to constantly create more ornate and original designs. This outpour of creativity is evident in the amazing talent of today’s silversmiths like Dheeraj.
Meet The Artist
“We transform sterling silver into jewelry with precious gemstones.”
“Hi. I’m Dheeraj, from the pink city of Jaipur where I was born and raised. I majored in electronic engineering.
“The inclination to do something fascinating and by myself urged me to take up the art of designing silver jewelry. Initially, I didn’t know anything about it but, with hard work and determination, I learned from working different artisans. I spent all my time with them and learned the details involved in silverwork. I faced many hardships along the way.
“In 2000, I started designing and crafting handmade sterling silver jewelry and, with my family’s help, I was able to establish myself. I’ve been working in this field ever since.
“In my workshop, experienced artisans work with me to create beautiful designs, which are both traditional and modern. Everyday, we come up with new ideas as we transform sterling silver into jewelry with precious gemstones.”
